Adrian Gibson

Charitable Affairs Director

I was lucky enough to enjoy a happy upbringing in Zimbabwe. My parents and my boarding schools, Springvale and Falcon College provided me with lots of opportunities, one of which was dingy sailing.

I learned to sail at the Jacana and Mazoe Yacht Clubs at Lake Chivero. The love of battling the elements, competitive regatta sailing with my Optimist, followed by the crewing on my father’s 505, remains with me to the current day. Hence, my interest in supporting Fraser, in his endeavor to circumnavigate the world.

My acquaintance to Fraser, came about through my cousin, who farmed close to the Flight family in Karoi. My son also has a particularly close and strong friendship to Fraser, having met him in Harare, Zimbabwe on his gap year.

My professional life started with university studies in Cape Town, South Africa, BSc. Chemistry/Biochemistry, Hons. Pharm. Followed by business and management training in RSA and Germany.
I spent 8 years of employment in the pharmaceutical industry in South Africa. Falling in love led to an emigration to Germany, initial work in the pharmaceutical area, followed by 30+ years in the management of the family owned company, now in its 122nd year.

Supporting young people, reach their true potential, goals and dreams, has always been of interest to me. Bringing the right people together to get the job done, has stood me in good stead through the family business and my engagement with supporting various charities, including the Round Table where I get involved with projects in Africa and beyond.

Besides bringing my decades of management skills to this venture I will also be able, based on my experience, be able to work closely with our charity partners to fulfil our joint objectives.
