Circumnavigation by the three three great capes

The race follows the historic clipper trade routes that circumnavigated the world in search of riches. This is an east-about, mostly trade wind and downwind route around the bottom of the world, taking advantage of following wind and waves in the southern ocean. It circumnavigates the three great capes of the world, the Cape of Good Hope, Cape Leeuwin and then the most enigmatic of all Cape Horn.  Most people know this route from the Whitbread, Volvo Ocean Race, Vendee Globe, and now the Global Solo Challenge race. Sailors choosing this route need to be prepared for heavy air, cold weather, and even ice at high latitudes.
