Welcome to my first blog post, where I’m navigating uncharted territory – starting a blog and social media! As a sailor, I’m more comfortable with wind and waves than posts and updates, but here goes!
Preparing for my solo, unassisted, and non-stop circumnavigation has been a wild ride. The sailing part? Easy. Getting to the start line? That’s the real challenge! Thankfully, I’ve got an amazing support crew.
A huge thank you to Adrian and Kevin, my Zimbabwean supporters in Germany and the UK, who’ve come aboard to help me navigate the way to the start line. You guys are the anchors that keep me grounded! My family – Morag, Ray, and Dean – and friends, including my ever-encouraging girlfriend Kara, have been incredibly supportive, even when they think I’m a little crazy (don’t worry, I think they’re right too!).
Currently, I’m docked in Malta, waking up at 3 am to monitor the weather. My mind’s filled with boat prep and voyage plans, but first, I need to tackle Challenge #1: funding. I need to find and refit a suitable boat that won’t leave me stranded mid-ocean.
With a full-time job at sea and a looming to-do list, doubts creep in. But I remind myself: 26, 000 miles start with a single step. And I’ve got positivity and support aplenty fuelling my journey.
Here’s the ask: help spread the word! I need financial support to make this dream a reality. Let’s get this ship sailing!
Stay tuned for more updates, and thanks for joining me on this wild adventure!
